When combined with other compounds in a preparation called TAC, cocaine can also treat minor skin lacerations, once thedrug is a vasoconstrictor effective (causes narrowing of the blood vessels).

Andrew Weil studied gastrointestinal effects of coca among South American communities. "If you look carefully themolecular Assembly of the coca leaf, you find 14 bioactive alkaloids ... While the cocaine acts as a stimulant of the intestine, other coca alkaloids can have precisely the opposite action. They inhibit the activity of the intestine, "says Weil.

"The rapid therapeutic response of ketamine in patients resistant to treatment is the greatest advance in the research ofdepression in half a century," he said in a statement the researcher Ronald Duman, professor of Psychiatry andNeurobiology at Yale University.

1. Marijuana
